Most prominently, he was featured as the villainous protagonist of his site's film series which includes Kickassia, Suburban Knights, and To Boldy Flee.

He is usually a short-tempered movie critic who reviews movies. The Nostalgia Critic (real name: Douglas Darrien Walker born November 17, 1981) is one of the many characters created by Douglas Darien "Doug" Walker, also known as That Guy with the Glasses, and the protagonist of his website, Channel Awesome, as well as the titular protagonist of the Nostalgia Critic web series. This massive blow has led them to creating more "on trend" videos about current topics instead of the nostalgic media that the show started on to keep the views they have.Hello, I'm the Nostalgia Critic. They also lost almost all of their content creators beyond the NC's team as part of the revelations, leaving only Cinema Snob and Guru Larry (who stayed for the meme). They said they were making a video to address it on their channel, and have yet to create one with the controversy now past. With the complete mishandling of the reveal of a huge collection of issues, there was a mass exodus of watchers, losing them over 70k subscribers in a matter of days.
They shot themselves in the foot with a response that basically came down to "you're a big meanie for saying those things" with no acknowledgement of the actual issues, and any criticism of the statement being responded to with "did you read the statement you idiot?", further harming their reputation. The document mentioned as part of the #changethechannel discussed a lot of behind the scenes issues, including sexual harassment being covered up, members being fired due to recovering from surgery, to lesser issues like unpaid work and harsh environments during shoots on the movies. I think that if he was still good and competitive then the controversy would wash over a bit more than it did, but it was a dying channel.Įdit: I'd like to add that I just watched another video about this, and this person claims that the rights to the Nostalgia Critic concept might be entangled in a dispute somehow.
#The nostalgia critic upgrade
He didn't even upgrade his sets or props that much from what he was doing in the 2000's. But Doug kept it up, even using the same people. Nostalgia Chick on the other hand has gotten way better by slowly dropping all of that: The 'in character' reading, and the character itself(which was kind of cringy), as well as the skits and scripted review setups which fall flat more often than not. The script reading/ acting was really bad compared to what you expect from Youtube skits now, and the people involved (regardless of what you think of them) just weren't as charismatic as some of the newer reviewers.
